Effectively similar to the MZ-R35 in form factor but with MZ-R55 guts. Considered a “cost reduced” version. Has no mic sensitivity, no erase button (though the option is in the edit menu), no time/date stamp, and the remote has no LCD (though the MZ-R55 remote (and other LCD remotes) work with it).
Variants: There is an MZ-R37SP (Self-Powered, has no ac adapter) that has slightly longer battery life.
MZ-R37PCIF version is the same base MZ-R37 unit bundled with a USB to analog line-out interface adapter (reportedly made by Xitel), allowing easy recording from a PC. Note that this is NOT NetMD.
Runs on two standard alkaline AAs, no sidecar. Will work with NiMH rechargeables (Eneloops). Does not like Lithium AAs
